Product Details

Lithospermum Erythrorhizon has a long history of cultivation in China. Initially, it was widely planted as a dye crop, and later its medicinal value was gradually discovered. Many  historical documents have corresponding records about the application of Lithospermum Erythrorhizon.

Modern medical research has identified the main active components of the root of Lithospermum Erythrorhizon. The lipid-soluble components include shikonin, acetylshikonin, deoxyshikonin, etc., which possess numerous pharmacological activities.

Since stigmasterol is a natural pigment, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon oil can also be used in the field of make-up cosmetics.

In the field of skin care, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon oil has excellent anti-inflammatory and repair effects, as follows:

1. Promote the proliferation of local cells, promote the increase of epithelial tissue, granulation tissue and fibrin

2. Inhibit the aggregation of inflammatory cells (neutrophils and macrophages) in burn and scald wounds

3. Reduce the expression of mRNA of IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1β

4. Up-regulate the expression of genes related to the signaling pathway of stem cell multipotency, Wnt4, promoting cell proliferation

5. Down-regulate the expression of genes related to the NF-KB signaling pathway

6. By regulating the transcription of the Wnt4 gene up-regulation, activate the Wnt signaling pathway, promote epithelial proliferation, and promote the healing of burn and scald skin wounds
